About Us

About us

In the name of Allah, The Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful;

Where we started
Alhamdullilah, Al Faruq Centre is one of the newest mosque and Islamic education centers serving the South Edmonton Muslim community. In 2017 we purchased 5.5 acres of land in the newest part of Edmonton. Since then a lot has happened in the area. That same year the Government of Alberta announced the construction of a brand new hospital as well as a modern high school. In June of 2020 the City of Edmonton voted in favour of prioritizing the Capital Line South LRT expansion coming to our area! We are so excited to be situated in the fastest growing part of Edmonton and things are only getting better.

We are growing
We are currently going through renovations to ensure our facilities meet the needs of the community and provide a welcoming space for all congregants.

We are changing
As part of the larger Downtown Islamic Association family we recognize we can do better. This summer we will work to refocus our efforts to most effectively and efficiently serve you. Part of that work includes hiring our first full-time executive director and part-time administrator to meet the growing needs of the mosque.

Our Vision

To be a home of belonging, learning, and growth. A purposeful space to connect with the Divine and with the community. To be a sanctuary for the spirit in troubled times. To draw nearer to Allah through the teachings of His Messenger (Peace and Blessing be Upon Him).

Our Mission

To sustainably provide a welcoming space and promote an indigenous practice and realization of Islam rooted in excellence, gratitude, and inclusion. To emulate the example of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) and build a community of believers working for the benefit of humanity.
